First Class for Less by Sharing a Jet? Maybe.

You know in this economy that private jets have become a bit of a “no-no” - or else they’re just too expensive - so what about sharing?

Blue Star Jets has started the Share-a-Jet Program. They call it the “upscale-travel alternative of the future” and they may have something there.

It’s sort of an online connection service where fairly-well-to-do folks can see if anyone’s going their way, and if so - they can share a jet and share the costs.

Who says you can’t scrimp and still enjoy the good life?

Back in March, we highlighted an around-the-world green vacation that included a private jet, world class hotels, and an African safari. It’s quite the adventure for travelers who want to see the world and experience the height of luxury while doing so. However, people don’t seem to be jumping on the opportunity. Perhaps the $144,500 price tag is keeping them away.

Check out RickSeaney.com for the latest update on this around-the-world trip.

All the adventure of an around-the-world journey and an African safari, all of the luxury of private jet travel, and all the “green” of carbon offsets. That’s what Safari Air is offering with the “world’s first 21-day Around the World Grand East Africa Safari.”

The trip, departing on Oct. 15, is designed for eight passengers. Those lucky eight will take off from Orange County and head out around the world, enjoying luxury hotel accommodations in Quebec City, Edinburgh, Cairo, Agra, Hong Kong, Guam and Honolulu along the way.

The main draw of this luxury vacation is a two-week African safari that takes travelers to Kilimanjaro, Tanzania, and Kenya. Of course, the Great Pyramids and the Taj Mahal might lure some people in, as well.

This 21-day world adventure is obviously not for the everyday traveler. The cost is set at about $144,500 per person. Along with the chance to see some of the most stunning sites on the globe, the party of eight will enjoy world class hotels, and inflight amenities including “fine wines, gourmet food, afternoon tea, and MacBook(R) laptops with Bose(R) headsets for each passenger to watch pre-selected movies…”

Bored with typical luxury trips? Simply taking a quick hop on a private jet not quite enough for you? Why not try a private jet vacation? It combines all of the perks of flying a private jet with all of the sights, sounds, comforts, and amenities of a luxury vacation package.

At this point in time, private jet vacations aren’t for everybody. In fact, there not even for most first class travelers. However, there are a few private jet vacations out there that include luxury hotel stays, private flights, champagne, gourmet meals, and more for not much more than an international first class airline ticket. Of course, there are some private jet vacations that will run you over $30,000 per person.

MSNBC has put together a list of top private jet vacations ranging in price from about $4,000 per person to about $90,000 per person.

Learn how you can see the Wonders of the World, the hidden secrets of Easter Island, the height of European culture, and much more all from the privacy of your chartered jet or your 5-star accommodations.
