Hawaiian Airlines Makes Changes to Frequent Flier Program

In its first change to its frequent flier program in 14 years, Hawaiian Airlines is shifting to a 3-tier award structure and one-way mileage awards for its HawaiianMiles members.

With rising fuel costs and increased overall spending, we’ve seen airlines turn to their frequent flier programs in search of cuts and changes that will affect the bottom line. This has led some carriers to eliminate airport lounges and ultimately decrease the value of their awards programs.

However, HawaiianMiles suggests that its new changes will not decrease value for members, but instead will provide “unprecedented control and flexibility” for its members. You’ll now have SuperSaver, Saver, and Flex options to choose from, and you will be able to cash in your rewards on one-way airfares.

Of course, some frequent fliers will see these changes as another hurdle in using their rewards to plan a complete Hawaii vacation. Visit Hawaiian Airlines Awards for more information on the latest changes, and let us know if you believe your frequent flier program is still working for you.
