Luxury Returns to the Plaza Hotel

Filed under: Hotels, Luxury — mike @ 1:46 pm

After 3 years and close to $400 million dollars worth of renovation, the world famous Plaza Hotel is up and running again. For a time, it looked as though the historic hotel would be completely transformed into condos. However, preservationists, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and lovers of the hotel fought to maintain at least some semblance of the Hotel in tact.

The fight paid off, and you can now enjoy a night’s stay in one of the Plaza’s newly renovated rooms for about $1,000 and you can once again take afternoon tea in the Palm Court…

The new rooms in the Plaza maintain a sense of the hotel’s and the city’s storied history, but they also have all of the modern amenities you would expect from a true luxury hotel including:

“flat-screen TVs, electronic key cards, iPod docks and digital touch screens that let guests change lighting and temperature or call for assistance. Touches of old-fashioned opulence include 24-karat gold-plated faucets, mosaic bathroom floors and white-gloved butlers, one per floor, on call 24 hours…” (from the Baltimore Sun)

There are few hotels in the world that rival the fame of the Plaza. When you stay there, you’re paying for the added luxury, but you’re also paying to share in a little piece of history. Visit the Plaza Hotel for the hotel’s latest offers.
