There’s a debate among travelers as to whether or not premium economy is really worth the extra money. First, let’s be very clear: premium economy is not business class. Generally speaking, business class offers more than 50% the leg room, greater recline in seats, and more amenities than premium economy. However, for travelers who simply can’t justify paying business class airfare, premium economy can be a welcome option. That brings us to today’s deal of the day… |
Virgin Atlantic is offering airfare as low as $704+ rt from Chicago to London for travel between January 22 and March 23. Virgin Atlantic’s Premium Economy class was named best in class at this year’s Business Traveler Awards, and it does offer a range of amenities including leather seats (purple to add that Virgin touch), pre-flight drinks, added leg-room, “tempting meals,” and more.
As a matter of comparison, “upper class” airfare for the same flight could run you $5,826+ rt, and standard economy airfare can currently be booked for $454+ rt.
The questions remain: is the extra $250 worth it for people who are looking to save? Can premium economy at all satisfy an “upper class” traveler? Let me know what you think, and book that flight soon if you want to duck out of the Chicago winter and enjoy the London winter for a while.
