Deal of the Day: Chicago to London in Premium Economy

There’s a debate among travelers as to whether or not premium economy is really worth the extra money. First, let’s be very clear: premium economy is not business class. Generally speaking, business class offers more than 50% the leg room, greater recline in seats, and more amenities than premium economy.

However, for travelers who simply can’t justify paying business class airfare, premium economy can be a welcome option. That brings us to today’s deal of the day…

On the heels of Silverjet’s latest airfare sale, the all-business class airline finds itself having to defend its business strategy against those who believe MAXjet’s failure marks the beginning of the end for Silverjet.

Despite talk of Silverjet’s future demise, the airline’s Chief Executive, Lawrence Hunt, is quick to point out that Silverjet is thriving:

“We had a record sales week last week in the US. We’ve seen a massive increase in corporate enquiries by companies looking to cut costs.” (from The Sydney Morning Herald)…

Fly First Class for LESS Than Coach

People sometimes think I’m crazy when I tell them they really can find first class tickets for less than coach. I am talking about Y-Up airfares, which happen to be one of my favorite subjects.

To most people these fares look and feel like coach fares, but they’re not. And they’re not first class upgrades. Y-Up airfares are for reserved first class seats, and yes, they can be less expensive than coach fares. Keep reading to see how just today I was shopping for a Disney trip and could have taken advantage of a Y-Up airfare…

Is $4000 on Business Class a Good Deal?

Filed under: Business Class — mike @ 5:07 pm

Delta Air Lines is taking advantage of coming “open skies” regulations and planning flights from Heathrow to New York and Atlanta. Delta will offer business class fares at appx. $3,922+ rt. So, is that really a good deal, and will Delta’s deal pressure all-business class carriers like Eos and Silverjet?

Well, the business class airfare offer at least puts Delta Air Lines in the ring with overseas carriers. You can find flights between London and New York on Silverjet at about $3,292+rt and on Eos for approximately $3,843+ rt. It will be interesting to see if Americans hitch a ride on Delta business class even if they have to spend a few hundred dollars more.

Let me know what you think.
