How to Book Discount First Class Airline Tickets - Honest It’s Easy

Filed under: How To — Rick Seaney @ 3:09 pm

There are over 100,000 discount First Class airfares across the U.S. and Canada. And one of them could have your name on it. Find out how to see if you can take advantage of traveling in style for the price of a coach airline ticket.

Discount First Class Fares?

YOU BET! Airline people know them by their code names including Y-UP and Q-UP airfares (and sometimes even Z-UP), but all you need to know is, these are discount First Class airfares and they’re out there, and FareCompare.com will help you find them and book them.

WARNING: these are discount First Class. Not cheap First Class, so don’t expect to pay what you would for a bargain Coach fare. Still, these special airline tickets can cost the same and sometimes less than walk-up (last minute) Coach airfare. And thats a lot of luxury for relatively little.

5-Good Things About Traveling on Discount First Class:

  1. PLENTY OF SEATS: Usually there is always airplane seat inventory for discount First Class tickets, even on near-full flights, at peak travel times, and on last minute flights
  2. ONE-WAY: Most discount First Class tickets are one-way fares, so if you have to change a leg of your trip at the last minute, ask the airline rep for a Y-Up fare (use that term) and you may find its as cheap as buying that last minute Coach seat
  3. WATCH FOR BARGAINS: Occasionally an airline will promote a discount First Class airfare; FareCompare.com can help you find it with our Free Airfare Email Alerts
  4. BOON TO BUSINESS TRAVELERS: Many companies now have No First Class/Business Travel but heres the good news: business travelers already pay top-dollar for their Coach fares, since they buy them at the last minute, and discount First Class can be roughly the same price or less. Plus, these discount First Class tickets are coded in such a way, that the appear to corporate bookkeepers as Coach tickets. Win-win for all. NOTE: a lot of corporate travel reps do not know to look for these fares; ask that they do so
  5. LUXURY: This ones easy; its more FUN to fly First Class!

Lets Book Those Seats!

We put together both a Step-by-Step Guide to Booking Y-UPs and a Direct Airline Purchasing Guide for these discount first class airfares, just follow the easy steps.
